Intimidation of our residents by the university
Since 1989, the Yoshida Dormitory Committee has collected the boarding fees of dorm residents each month and then transferred these fees in a lump sum to the university authorities. We have never had any issues with this system.
However, on August 2nd 2018, the university Vice President Kawazoe sent the following threatening message to our students:
“All Yoshida Dormitory residents must pay their boarding fees directly to the university. If you do not do this, we will no longer consider you a resident of the dormitory. Furthermore, you will also lose the right to be housed in alternative accommodation provided by the university.”
The intimidation and bullying being used against our students by the university is completely unjust and disregards the rights of Yoshida Dormitory students to govern our own affairs. In the following pages, we will explain the events that have led up to the current situation.
